When did official America250 events formally begin?

Official America250 events formally began on July 3, 2025.

That date launched the organized America250 program leading toward the United States’ 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026. The celebration was therefore designed as a run-up lasting roughly one year, rather than as a single day of ceremonies.

The date is sometimes confused with June 14, 2025, when the United States Army’s 250th Anniversary Parade began the wider Semiquincentennial celebrations. The two dates describe related milestones: one marks the first major celebration event, while the other marks the formal start of America250 programming.

The central anniversary commemorates the Continental Congress’s adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. America250 planning also included commemorative coins, postage stamps, educational projects, public events, and programs encouraging volunteer service.
