Answer
May 27, 2017
Disney’s Pandora—The World of Avatar opened to visitors on May 27, 2017.
The themed land is located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida’s Walt Disney World Resort. It recreates the fictional moon Pandora from James Cameron’s Avatar, using large floating mountains, glowing plant effects, water features, and alien-inspired scenery to create an immersive environment.
The area includes two major attractions: Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. Flight of Passage is a motion-simulation experience centered on riding a banshee, while Na’vi River Journey is a slower boat ride through a bioluminescent landscape.
The opening date is sometimes confused with the film’s release date or with the announcement and construction period. Avatar premiered in 2009, but Disney’s separately developed themed land opened eight years later, in 2017.
