America250 events formally began on July 3, 2025, according to the United States Semiquincentennial program.
This date came before the main anniversary year and preceded Independence Day 2026 by almost one year. The launch marked the beginning of official America250 activities rather than the anniversary itself.
The celebrations were later associated with major events, commemorative coins, public gatherings, and programs held across the United States. The anniversary being marked was the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, observed on July 4, 2026.
A common mix-up is confusing the formal America250 start date with June 14, 2025, when the United States Army held its 250th Anniversary Parade. That parade began the broader semiquincentennial celebrations, while July 3 was identified as the formal start of America250 events.
