What year was KoRn's first album released?
Answer
1994
Answer
1994
Korn's first album was released in 1994. The self-titled debut, Korn, arrived on October 11, 1994, through Immortal Records and Epic Records.
Recorded at Indigo Ranch Studios in Malibu during May and June 1994, the album was produced by Ross Robinson. Its heavy, groove-focused sound, unusual vocal intensity, and hip-hop influences helped define the emerging nu metal movement. The band had already issued the demo Neidermayer's Mind in 1993, but that demo was not a studio album.
The album's lead single, "Blind," introduced Korn to a wider audience, while tracks such as "Shoots and Ladders" and "Clown" became important early songs. Although the record was released in 1994, it reached number 72 on the Billboard 200 only in 1996 and was eventually certified double platinum in the United States. A common mix-up is confusing the album's recording year with the later dates of its chart success.
