Bob Dylan released his album “Blood on the Tracks” in 1975. Columbia Records issued the album on January 20, 1975, making it Dylan’s fifteenth studio album.
The album grew from songs Dylan wrote during a turbulent period in his personal life. He initially recorded the material in New York in September 1974, but later re-recorded several songs in Minneapolis with a different group of musicians. That change in recording approach helped shape the version listeners know today.
“Blood on the Tracks” is often remembered for its emotionally intense writing, especially “Tangled Up in Blue,” “Simple Twist of Fate,” and “Shelter from the Storm.” A common mix-up is confusing the recording date with the release date: much of the album was recorded in 1974, but the finished record was released in 1975. It became one of Dylan’s most acclaimed and enduring albums.
