What were the titles of the first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games?
Answer
Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team
Answer
Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team
The first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games were Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team.
The matched pair first launched in Japan on November 17, 2005. Red Rescue Team was made for Game Boy Advance, while Blue Rescue Team used Nintendo DS hardware. Both games were developed by Chunsoft and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.
Unlike the main Pokémon role-playing games, the player character in Rescue Team is transformed into a Pokémon. Players explore randomly generated, turn-based dungeons, complete rescue jobs and recruit other Pokémon. The story begins with the player suffering from amnesia and trying to understand why they became a Pokémon.
The titles are sometimes shortened to “Mystery Dungeon,” which can cause confusion with later entries. Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness followed in 2007, while Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX was a 2020 Nintendo Switch remake of the original pair.
