What waterfall appears prominently in the opening credits of Twin Peaks?
Answer
Snoqualmie Falls
Answer
Snoqualmie Falls
Snoqualmie Falls appears prominently in the opening credits of Twin Peaks.
The 268-foot waterfall is in Snoqualmie, Washington, about 30 miles east of Seattle. Its powerful drop and surrounding evergreen landscape helped define the series’ visual identity, linking the fictional town to the Pacific Northwest. The waterfall is shown alongside images of the town, its sawmill, and other regional scenery.
Twin Peaks used several real Washington locations, so viewers sometimes confuse Snoqualmie Falls with the exterior of the Great Northern Hotel. The hotel exterior was filmed at the Salish Lodge and Spa, which stands beside Snoqualmie Falls. The two locations are therefore closely connected but are not the same thing.
Snoqualmie Falls is also an important cultural and natural landmark in Washington. Its appearance in the credits made it internationally recognizable to fans, while the surrounding locations became popular destinations for Twin Peaks tourism.
