Popplio is the Water-type Pokémon among the three starter choices in the Alola region. Trainers encounter it in Pokémon Sun and Moon, alongside Rowlet, a Grass/Flying type, and Litten, a Fire type.
Popplio is classified as the Sea Lion Pokémon and is inspired by a young sea lion. It can produce elastic water balloons from its nose, using them for attacks, movement, and acrobatic performances. Its playful design reflects the tropical, island-based setting of Alola.
Popplio evolves into Brionne starting at level 17 and then into Primarina at level 34. Primarina remains Water-type but gains the Fairy typing. A common mix-up is choosing Litten because all three starters are introduced together, but Litten is Fire-type and Rowlet is Grass/Flying-type.
