Answer
November 16, 2004
The television series House M.D. premiered in the United States on November 16, 2004.
Fox introduced the medical drama in the 2004–05 television season. The premiere established Gregory House as a brilliant but abrasive diagnostician who leads a small team at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. The show mixed hospital cases with continuing character stories and House's dependence on prescription pain medication.
The series was created by David Shore and produced by Shore, Katie Jacobs, and Bryan Singer, among others. Its format usually centered on a difficult case whose solution emerged through differential diagnosis, repeated testing, and changes in the patient's symptoms. That structure helped distinguish it from a conventional hospital soap opera.
The premiere date is sometimes confused with the date of the show's series finale or with an international broadcast date. House M.D. concluded in 2012, but its American network debut was in November 2004. The program ultimately became one of Fox's best-known scripted dramas and ran for eight seasons.
