What was the theme of Earth Day 2020, the 50th anniversary?

The theme of Earth Day 2020, the 50th anniversary, was Climate Action.

Earth Day organizers selected the theme to highlight climate change as the defining environmental challenge of the anniversary year. The focus connected emissions, extreme weather, ecosystem damage, public health, and the need for coordinated action by governments, businesses, communities, and individuals.

The 2020 observance was unusual because the COVID-19 pandemic forced many public gatherings to move online. Earth Day Network organized digital events, livestreams, teach-ins, and calls to action rather than relying on the large outdoor demonstrations associated with earlier anniversaries.

Several answer choices can sound plausible because Earth Day themes change from year to year. “Restore Our Earth” was the theme for 2021, while “Protect Our Species” was associated with 2019. “Invest in Our Planet” became a later Earth Day slogan and theme. Those nearby phrases should not be confused with the official 2020 theme.
