What was the story mode introduced in FIFA 17 called?

The story behind the answer

The story mode introduced in FIFA 17 was called The Journey.

The mode follows Alex Hunter, a fictional teenage footballer attempting to establish himself in professional football. Players guide his career, make dialogue choices, and play matches while the narrative moves through clubs and personal relationships.

The Journey was presented as a cinematic single-player campaign rather than a traditional season-based Career Mode. It used Frostbite-powered presentation and featured real football clubs, managers, and players alongside its fictional protagonist.

The story continued in FIFA 18 and FIFA 19, becoming a trilogy across three annual releases. It should not be confused with Career Mode, which remained the series’ broader management and player-career simulation, or with Volta Football, the street-football mode introduced in FIFA 20.
