Hull City beat Manchester United 2–0 on the first Saturday of the 2026–27 Premier League.
The match was played at MKM Stadium in the opening Saturday lunchtime slot. Hull were back in the top flight after a nine-year absence, while Manchester United began the campaign after finishing third in the previous season.
Semi Ajayi opened the scoring in the 17th minute, and Nobel Mendy doubled Hull’s advantage seven minutes before half-time. Both Hull goals came before the interval, giving the hosts a platform they protected for the rest of the match.
The result was historically significant for Hull because it was the club’s first top-flight victory over Manchester United. It also represented Hull’s first league win against United since 1974, when both clubs were competing in the old Second Division.
