Answer
Operation Olympic
Operation Olympic was the planned first phase of Operation Downfall, targeting southern Kyushu.
The United States intended to begin Olympic in November 1945. Its objective was to capture the southern third of Kyushu, Japan's southernmost main island, and establish airfields and bases for the next stage of the invasion.
The follow-up phase, Operation Coronet, was planned for the Kanto Plain near Tokyo on Honshu. Olympic and Coronet were therefore related but distinct operations; both together formed Operation Downfall, the proposed invasion of Japan.
Olympic was never launched. Japan surrendered in August 1945, after the atomic bombings, the Soviet entry into the war against Japan, and internal Japanese deliberation over the Allied demand for surrender. The planned invasion forces instead shifted to occupation duties.
