What was the planned Allied invasion of southern Kyushu called in the canceled invasion plan for Japan?

The story behind the answer

The planned Allied invasion of southern Kyushu was called Operation Olympic.

Operation Olympic was the first stage of Operation Downfall, the proposed Allied invasion of Japan’s home islands. It was scheduled to begin in November 1945 and would have landed forces in southern Kyushu, Japan’s southernmost main island.

The objective was to seize territory and airfields that could support a later invasion of Honshu. The second stage, Operation Coronet, was planned for the Kantō Plain near Tokyo in spring 1946. Japan’s surrender in August 1945 canceled both operations before they began.

Operation Olympic is often confused with Operation Downfall, which was the overall invasion plan, or Operation Coronet, which was the later Honshu phase. It is also unrelated to Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
