What was the original name of the FIFA series’ first game?

The story behind the answer

The original name of the FIFA series’ first game was FIFA International Soccer.

Electronic Arts released the title in 1993 as the first entry in what became its annual FIFA football franchise. The official name used “FIFA International Soccer,” not the later year-based naming convention used by many players and retailers.

Because the game was released during the 1993–94 season, it was commonly called FIFA ’94. That informal label is the source of many references to “FIFA 94,” even though it was not the title printed on the original release.

The game focused on international football and helped establish the series before later entries expanded club licensing, leagues, career modes, and online play.
