What was the original name of Lagos's year-end festival later renamed One Lagos Fiesta?

The story behind the answer

The original name of Lagos’s year-end festival later renamed One Lagos Fiesta was Lagos Countdown.

Lagos Countdown was an annual New Year's Eve celebration launched by the Lagos State Government. The first edition was held in 2012, with Bar Beach serving as its main location. The event was designed to attract visitors, promote Lagos as a destination, and create a large public celebration modeled partly on major international New Year events.

Its program combined a countdown with fireworks, live music, concerts, and other entertainment. Performers at different editions included Nigerian stars such as 2Baba, Olamide, and Wizkid. The 2013 edition reportedly drew an estimated 200,000 people over a ten-day period.

In 2015, the festival was renamed One Lagos Fiesta under the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. It was later known as Greater Lagos Fiesta. “Eko Festival” and “Lagos Carnival” are associated with Lagos cultural celebrations, but neither was the original name of this particular year-end countdown event.
