The official name of Schoolhouse Rock!’s history series created for the 1976 Bicentennial was America Rock.
The animated educational series presented short musical lessons about American history and government. It aired as part of Schoolhouse Rock!, the ABC educational program known for teaching academic subjects through songs and animation.
America Rock included ten segments covering topics such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, westward expansion, and the legislative process. Two especially remembered segments were “I’m Just a Bill” and “The Preamble.”
The series is often casually called History Rock, but that was not its official name. This distinction matters because the broader Schoolhouse Rock! catalog contained other themed series, while America Rock specifically served the Bicentennial-era history curriculum.
