What was the name of Warren Buffett's father, a U.S. congressman?

The story behind the answer

Warren Buffett’s father, the U.S. congressman, was Howard Buffett.

Howard Homan Buffett was an Omaha businessman, stockbroker, and Republican politician. He represented Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives during four terms spread across the 1940s and early 1950s. His political views were strongly non-interventionist and skeptical of expansive government power.

Before entering politics, Howard worked in the investment business and operated the Omaha firm Buffett-Falk & Co. His career gave Warren early exposure to financial markets, while family trips and conversations helped nurture the younger Buffett’s interest in business. Howard also served on Omaha’s board of education before winning election to Congress.

The name is easy to confuse with Warren’s descendants. Howard Graham Buffett is Warren’s son, while Howard Warren Buffett is Warren’s grandson. The congressman was Warren’s father and was born Howard Homan Buffett in 1903.
