What was the name of the Wright brothers’ sister who helped manage their business?

The story behind the answer

Katharine Wright was the Wright brothers’ sister who helped manage their business and supported their aviation work.

Katharine was born in 1874 and became an important member of the Wright family’s professional and personal life. Unlike Wilbur and Orville, she completed college and worked as a teacher before later assisting her brothers.

She helped with correspondence, social arrangements, and practical matters surrounding the Wrights’ public demonstrations and business activities. Her support was especially valuable when the brothers traveled to Europe and when their aviation company became more prominent.

Katharine is sometimes overlooked because the brothers conducted the experiments and flew the aircraft themselves. Their father, Milton Wright, and their sister nevertheless played important supporting roles. Katharine later married Henry Haskell in 1926, after the brothers’ pioneering period had made them internationally famous.
