The Porsche concept car that previewed the Taycan was the Porsche Mission E.

Porsche unveiled the Mission E at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show as a four-door, four-seat electric sports-car concept. It combined a design influenced by the 911 with technology derived partly from Porsche’s motorsport experience, including all-wheel drive and an 800-volt electrical system.

The concept promised more than 600 horsepower, over 500 kilometres of driving range, and charging to about 80 percent in roughly 15 minutes. Its unusual cabin also demonstrated eye-tracking, gesture control, and displays that adjusted to the driver’s position. These features made it both a design preview and a technology statement.

Porsche later confirmed that the production version would not retain the Mission E name. In 2018, the company announced Taycan as the official name for its first series-production fully electric sports car. The Taycan entered production in 2019, while the Mission E name remains associated with the 2015 concept.
