What was the name of the first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon pair for Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS?
Answer
Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team
Answer
Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team
The first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon pair was Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team.
Spike Chunsoft developed the games, which were published in Japan in 2005. Red Rescue Team was made for Game Boy Advance, while Blue Rescue Team was made for Nintendo DS. They share the same story and were designed as companion versions for Nintendo’s two handheld systems.
Instead of playing as a human Trainer, the player becomes a Pokémon after answering a personality questionnaire. The story follows the player and a partner as they form a rescue team and explore randomly generated dungeons. This structure distinguishes Mystery Dungeon from the main Pokémon role-playing games.
Later entries included Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, Gates to Infinity, and Super Mystery Dungeon. Those titles belong to the same spin-off series but are not the original pair. The two Rescue Team versions established the series’ role-playing and dungeon-crawling format.
