What was the name of the colonial boycott adopted by the First Continental Congress in 1774?

The story behind the answer

The First Continental Congress adopted the Continental Association in 1774 to organize a colonial boycott of British goods.

The association was approved in Philadelphia on October 20, 1774, in response to the Intolerable Acts. It called for nonimportation of British goods and later nonexportation to Britain, placing economic pressure on merchants and the British government.

Local committees were expected to enforce the boycott and publicize violations. This network gave the colonies a coordinated response before the Second Continental Congress organized military resistance after the fighting at Lexington and Concord.

The Continental Association is sometimes confused with the Sons of Liberty, a resistance organization active before 1774, or with the Stamp Act Congress of 1765. It also should not be confused with the later Articles of Confederation, which formed a national governmental framework during the war.
