What was the name of the château in Provence that Christian Dior bought in 1951?

The story behind the answer

Christian Dior bought Château de La Colle Noire in Provence in 1951.

La Colle Noire was a country property near Montauroux in the Var region of southern France. Dior purchased and restored the château during the period when his couture house was already internationally established. The property offered a private retreat away from Paris and became closely associated with his appreciation of gardens, architecture, and the Provençal landscape.

Dior’s relationship with flowers was not limited to printed motifs or perfume names. He cultivated gardens and drew inspiration from plants, especially roses and other highly recognizable flowers. La Colle Noire therefore fits into the larger story of his design work and personal interests.

It is distinct from Villa Les Rhumbs in Granville, the Dior family home of his childhood. The two properties represent different stages of Dior’s life: early family memory and later success.
