What was the name of the 1989 U.S. market crash linked to a failed United Airlines buyout?

The story behind the answer

The 1989 U.S. market crash linked to a failed United Airlines buyout was called the Friday the 13th mini-crash.

The event occurred on Friday, October 13, 1989, after the proposed leveraged buyout of United Airlines collapsed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 190.58 points, at that time its largest one-day point decline, although the percentage loss was much smaller than in 1987.

The failed deal raised concerns about the market for leveraged buyouts and the health of financial institutions involved in arranging large transactions. Heavy selling spread through stocks and futures markets during the session.

The crash is sometimes overlooked because it was far less severe than Black Monday in 1987. Its nickname also distinguishes it from the 1987 crash: both were dramatic October market events, but they were separated by two years and had different immediate triggers.
