What was the name of Rembrandt’s son who became a painter?
Answer
Titus van Rijn
Answer
Titus van Rijn
Rembrandt’s son who became a painter was Titus van Rijn.
Titus was born in Amsterdam in 1641 to Rembrandt and Saskia van Uylenburgh. He was the couple’s only child to survive infancy. Rembrandt painted Titus repeatedly, producing some of his most intimate portraits of a family member.
Titus later worked as a painter and art dealer. His career was closely connected to his father’s workshop and household, especially after Rembrandt’s financial difficulties made it necessary to manage the artist’s business through family arrangements.
Titus died in 1668, at the age of 26, shortly before Rembrandt’s own death. He had married Magdalena van Loo earlier that year, and their daughter, Titia, was born after Titus’s death.
