What was the name of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl’s online trading service?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl introduced the Global Trade Station, commonly abbreviated GTS.

The GTS let players connect online and trade Pokémon by depositing one they owned and requesting another species in return. It expanded trading beyond local link connections and made it possible to seek specific Pokémon from players around the world.

Diamond and Pearl were released for the Nintendo DS in 2006 in Japan and in 2007 in other major regions. Their online features used the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, which Nintendo later discontinued.

GTS is different from Pokémon Bank, a separate storage service, and Wonder Trade, a later random-trading feature. The original GTS was a landmark Nintendo DS feature because it connected Pokémon trading to online matchmaking.
