What was the name of Pablo Picasso's pet dachshund?

The story behind the answer

What was the name of Pablo Picasso's pet dachshund? Lump. The male dachshund belonged to photographer David Douglas Duncan and lived with Picasso for six years.

Lump was born in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1956. Duncan brought him to Picasso's home, La Californie, near Cannes, on 19 April 1957. Picasso immediately took to the dog, painting Lump's portrait on a dinner plate during their first meeting and giving it to Duncan.

The dog became a familiar presence in Picasso's studio and photographs. Lump appeared in 15 of Picasso's 44 studies of Diego Velázquez's Las Meninas, painted between August and December 1957. Picasso reportedly treated him as a companion and muse, once saying that Lump was not a dog or a little man, but somebody else.

Lump is sometimes confused with Picasso's other animals, including his boxer Yan and a goat named Esmeralda. He remained Duncan's dog while living with Picasso, and returned to Duncan's care after becoming seriously ill. Lump died in Germany on 29 March 1973, only days before Picasso's death.
