What was the name of Operation Downfall’s planned invasion of the Kantō Plain near Tokyo?

The story behind the answer

Operation Coronet was Operation Downfall’s planned invasion of the Kantō Plain near Tokyo.

Coronet was intended as the second stage of the Allied invasion plan for Japan. It was scheduled for spring 1946 and would have followed Operation Olympic, the planned assault on southern Kyūshū in November 1945.

The Kantō Plain contained Tokyo and was one of the few areas of Japan considered suitable for a massive amphibious landing. The plan called for Allied armies to land on beaches near the plain and advance toward the capital.

Coronet was canceled when Japan surrendered. It is often confused with Operation Olympic because both belonged to Operation Downfall. Another source of confusion is Operation Pastel, a proposed deception plan designed to make Japanese leaders believe the Allies would avoid a direct invasion of the home islands.
