What was the name of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s daughter born in 1868, his first child with Anna Snitkina?

The story behind the answer

Fyodor Dostoevsky’s daughter born in 1868 was named Sofya, his first child with Anna Snitkina.

Sofya Dostoevskaya was born in Geneva on 5 March 1868. She died in infancy on 12 May 1868, only a few months after her birth, and was buried in Geneva.

The family later had three surviving children: daughter Lyubov, born in 1869, and sons Fyodor, born in 1871, and Alexey, born in 1875. This makes Sofya distinct from Lyubov, who became the couple’s eldest surviving child.

Some accounts transliterate the name as Sophia or Sofya. These forms refer to the same child, while the Russian form commonly appears as Sofya in English-language biographies.
