What was the name of FIFA 22’s motion-capture gameplay technology?

The story behind the answer

FIFA 22’s motion-capture gameplay technology was called HyperMotion.

EA described HyperMotion as a system combining advanced motion capture with machine learning to create more natural football animations. The company used full-team capture sessions involving professional players, then applied the resulting data to gameplay animation and movement.

HyperMotion was promoted primarily for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Stadia versions of FIFA 22. The feature was not presented identically across every platform, so older console and PC versions did not receive the same full implementation.

FIFA 22 launched in 2021. HyperMotion is distinct from the Frostbite engine: Frostbite is the broader game engine, while HyperMotion refers to the animation and gameplay technology marketed for this edition.
