Amazon's first Golden Globe-winning original series was Transparent. The comedy-drama won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series—Musical or Comedy at the January 2015 ceremony.
Created by Joey Soloway, Transparent follows the Pfefferman family after Mort, the family patriarch, comes out as a transgender woman named Maura. Amazon first released the pilot in February 2014, then ordered a full season; all ten episodes premiered in September 2014. The show's success helped establish Amazon Studios as a serious producer of original television.
Transparent made history beyond Amazon: it was the first series produced by a streaming media service to win a Golden Globe for Best Series. Jeffrey Tambor also won the acting award for the first season. The show eventually ran for five seasons, ending in 2019 with the feature-length Transparent: Musicale Finale.
The Crown, Stranger Things, and House of Cards are associated with Netflix, not Amazon's first Golden Globe-winning original series.
