What was the Japanese title of the first Pokémon Nintendo 64 game?
Answer
Pocket Monsters Stadium
Answer
Pocket Monsters Stadium
The first Pokémon Nintendo 64 game was titled Pocket Monsters Stadium in Japan.
It was released in Japan on August 1, 1998, and was not released internationally under that title. The game used 3D battles and connected with the Game Boy Pokémon games through the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak.
International players generally know the later, expanded release as Pokémon Stadium. In Japan, that international game was marketed as Pokémon Stadium 2, creating a numbering difference between regions. This is why the Japanese title and the worldwide title can appear to identify different entries even when they are closely related.
Pocket Monsters Stadium had a smaller playable roster than the later international release. Only 40 Pokémon could be used in battles, although the game could display information for the full original group of 151 Pokémon.
