What was the first phase of the canceled Allied invasion plan for Japan called?

The story behind the answer

Operation Olympic was the first phase of the canceled Allied invasion plan for Japan.

Olympic was scheduled to begin on November 1, 1945, with landings in southern Kyushu, Japan’s southernmost main island. The Allies planned to seize territory and airfields there, creating bases for the later attack on the Tokyo region.

The second phase, Operation Coronet, was scheduled for March 1946 and would have targeted the Kanto Plain near Tokyo on Honshu. Together, Olympic and Coronet formed Operation Downfall, the overall invasion plan for the Japanese home islands.

Japan surrendered before Olympic began. The plan was therefore replaced by occupation operations rather than combat landings on the home islands. Operation Pastel was a separate deception plan intended to mislead Japanese commanders about the Allies’ intended invasion route, so it is not the name of the first phase itself.
