What was the first FIFA game released for the Sega Saturn?

The story behind the answer

FIFA Soccer 96 was the first FIFA game released for the Sega Saturn.

Released in 1995, FIFA Soccer 96 expanded the series onto several newer platforms, including the Sega Saturn. The Saturn version was part of the period when Electronic Arts was moving the franchise toward more advanced 3D presentation and broader console coverage.

The game was also notable for its use of the Virtual Stadium engine, which helped create polygonal players and stadium environments. That technology marked an important visual transition from the largely sprite-based presentation of earlier FIFA titles.

The Saturn was Sega’s 32-bit successor to the Mega Drive and competed with Sony’s PlayStation. FIFA Soccer 96 was released on both systems, although platform versions could differ in presentation and technical performance.
