What was the first feature film directed by Jordan Peele?
Answer
Get Out
Answer
Get Out
Jordan Peele’s first feature film as director was Get Out.
Released in 2017, Get Out follows Chris Washington, a Black photographer who visits the family estate of his white girlfriend, Rose Armitage. Social discomfort gradually gives way to a conspiracy involving the transfer of consciousness into other bodies. The film uses horror, satire, and science fiction to examine racism and exploitation.
Daniel Kaluuya played Chris, and Allison Williams played Rose. Peele wrote the screenplay and won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, making him the first Black winner in that category. Get Out was produced on a modest budget and became a major commercial and critical success. Peele later directed Us and Nope, but neither was his feature-directing debut.
