What was FIFA 14’s shooting system, designed to make strikes more realistic, called?

The story behind the answer

FIFA 14 introduced the Pure Shot system to make shooting animations and strikes more realistic.

Pure Shot allowed players to adjust their body position and stride before striking the ball. The aim was to make shots feel less like identical button-triggered actions and more dependent on balance, running angle, and the location of the ball. A well-positioned player could produce a cleaner attempt, while an awkward approach could lead to a less convincing strike.

Pure Shot is commonly mixed up with other FIFA shooting features. Timed Finishing arrived later in FIFA 18, while First Touch Control belonged to FIFA 13 and focused on receiving passes. FIFA 14 also introduced major presentation and physics changes, including a new engine on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but Pure Shot was the named shooting feature associated with the game’s ball-striking improvements.
