What was Claude Monet’s first wife’s name?

Claude Monet’s first wife was Camille Doncieux.

Camille Doncieux married Claude Monet in 1870. Before and during their marriage, she frequently posed for him and appeared in many paintings, making her one of the most recognizable figures in his early work.

She is the principal figure in paintings such as The Woman in the Green Dress and Camille, or The Woman in the Green Dress. Monet also depicted her in outdoor scenes, including The Stroll, Woman with a Parasol.

Camille and Monet had two sons, Jean and Michel. Camille died in 1879 at the age of 32, shortly after the birth of their second child. Monet later lived with Alice Hoschedé, whom he married in 1892; Alice was therefore his second wife, not Camille’s replacement in the earlier family history.
