Bánh hỏi is the Vietnamese dish of thin rice-flour sheets arranged in delicate woven bundles.
The strands are made from rice flour and pressed into extremely fine noodles. They are layered or woven into compact sheets, then commonly brushed with scallion oil before serving.
Bánh hỏi is associated particularly with central and southern Vietnam. It may accompany grilled pork, beef, chicken, shrimp, or roasted meats, with herbs and a dipping sauce served alongside.
Bánh hỏi is sometimes confused with bánh cuốn. Bánh cuốn consists of soft, rolled steamed rice sheets, while bánh hỏi is made from fine strands arranged into a woven, noodle-like surface.
