What two drinks are mixed to make a classic Arnold Palmer?

The story behind the answer

The two drinks mixed to make a classic Arnold Palmer are iced tea and lemonade.

The non-alcoholic drink is named for professional golfer Arnold Palmer, who became closely associated with ordering the combination. Palmer reportedly preferred a stronger tea-to-lemonade ratio than the equal-parts version often served today.

An equal mix is also widely called a “half-and-half,” especially in parts of the United States. The drink can use sweetened or unsweetened iced tea, so recipes vary even though the two defining ingredients remain the same.

It is sometimes confused with alcoholic cocktails inspired by the golfer. A John Daly adds vodka, while a Lee Trevino or Juan Daly uses tequila. Commercial bottled versions later helped turn the homemade golf-course drink into a widely recognized beverage brand.
