What town is the hub world in The Thousand-Year Door?

The story behind the answer

The hub world in The Thousand-Year Door is Rogueport.

Rogueport is the central town from which Mario reaches the game’s major regions, including Petal Meadows, the Boggly Woods, Twilight Town, and the Glitzville arena. Its harbor setting, winding streets, troublemaking inhabitants, shops, inns, and seedy atmosphere make it both a travel center and a major story location.

Mario arrives after receiving a treasure map connected to the Thousand-Year Door. Professor Frankly operates in Rogueport, and the town’s underground ruins contain the ancient door and the secrets surrounding the legendary treasure. The game repeatedly brings Mario back there between chapters, reinforcing Rogueport’s role as the adventure’s home base.

A common mix-up is confusing Rogueport with other Paper Mario hubs. Toad Town is the main town in the original Paper Mario, Flipside is the hub in Super Paper Mario, and Decalburg is the opening city in Sticker Star. Rogueport belongs specifically to The Thousand-Year Door.
