Churros are the Tex-Mex dessert of fried dough strips rolled in cinnamon sugar.
Churro dough is usually piped through a star-shaped nozzle, creating ridges that become crisp during frying. The finished pieces may be coated in sugar and cinnamon or served with chocolate, caramel, or another dipping sauce.
Churros are found throughout Mexico, Spain, and many parts of the Americas. Tex-Mex restaurants commonly serve them as a sweet ending to a meal, sometimes in short pieces or filled varieties.
They are related to, but distinct from, sopapillas. Sopapillas are typically pieces of dough that puff during frying and are often served with honey, whereas churros are ridged and elongated.
