What team hired Steve Wilks as their head coach?

The Arizona Cardinals hired Steve Wilks as their head coach in January 2018.

Wilks came to Arizona after serving as the Carolina Panthers’ defensive coordinator. The Cardinals selected him to replace Bruce Arians, who retired after the 2017 season. It was Wilks’s first NFL head-coaching job.

His only season in Arizona was 2018, when the Cardinals finished 3–13. The team dismissed him after that season and later hired Kliff Kingsbury. Wilks subsequently held coaching roles with several NFL teams, including the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and San Francisco 49ers.

A common mix-up is confusing Wilks with other Cardinals coaches from the same era, especially Bruce Arians or Kliff Kingsbury. Wilks was the bridge between those two head coaches.
