What team did Kobe Bryant's father, Joe "Jellybean" Bryant, play for?

The story behind the answer

Joe “Jellybean” Bryant played for the Philadelphia 76ers. The power forward was selected by Philadelphia in the first round of the 1975 NBA draft and began his professional career with the team.

Bryant grew up in Philadelphia and attended John Bartram High School before playing college basketball at La Salle University. His NBA career also included the San Diego Clippers and Houston Rockets, but the 76ers were his first NBA team and the one most directly associated with his hometown background.

He later became a coach, working in the United States and overseas. Bryant is also widely known as the father of Kobe Bryant, who became one of the Los Angeles Lakers’ greatest players. A common mix-up is to name the Lakers because of Kobe’s career; Joe Bryant never played for Los Angeles.
