A Bible is traditionally presented to a quinceañera as a symbol of faith.
In religious quinceañera ceremonies, especially Catholic celebrations, the Bible may be given to the quinceañera by parents, godparents, or another important family member. The gift represents religious guidance and the family’s hope that faith will accompany her transition into a new stage of life.
Other symbolic objects can appear in the same tradition, including a rosary, medal, cross, or flowers. Which items are used depends on denomination, country, parish, and family practice. A Bible is therefore a traditional symbol rather than a mandatory part of every quinceañera.
Secular celebrations may omit religious gifts entirely. The presence of a Bible should not be confused with the separate customs involving a crown, a doll, or a change of shoes.
