The symbolic gift known as the “last doll” presented during some quinceañeras is a doll.
The doll represents childhood and is presented as the celebrant enters a new stage of life. In some versions of the ceremony, the quinceañera later gives the doll to a younger sibling or another child.
This ritual is often called la última muñeca in Spanish. It is one of several symbolic customs that may appear alongside the changing of shoes, the presentation of flowers, or the giving of jewelry.
Practices are not identical everywhere. Some families do not use a doll, while others replace it with a personalized keepsake. The “last” label is symbolic rather than a claim that the celebrant can never own or receive another doll.
