What STScI archive contains data from the Hubble Space Telescope?

The story behind the answer

The Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes contains data from the Hubble Space Telescope.

MAST is a NASA-funded astronomical archive based at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. It preserves and distributes Hubble observations, allowing researchers and the public to search datasets, retrieve calibrated products, and study observations long after they were made. Hubble data are generally stored in FITS, the standard format used for astronomical analysis.

The archive is named for Barbara Mikulski, a longtime supporter of space science and the Hubble and James Webb missions. Its scope is much broader than Hubble: MAST also hosts data from missions and surveys including Kepler, TESS, Pan-STARRS, and the James Webb Space Telescope.

The Chandra Data Archive is the appropriate archive for NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, while the NASA Exoplanet Archive focuses on exoplanet information rather than serving as Hubble’s main mission archive. Sloan Digital Sky Survey data are associated with a separate ground-based survey.
