The Spanish word presentación describes the formal presentation of a quinceañera during her celebration.
Presentación means “presentation” and refers to the public introduction of the celebrant, especially in a ceremonial or religious setting. The event may present her to family and community as she reaches a new stage of life. A reception entrance, a church ceremony, or both can form part of that presentation.
The word should not be confused with coronación, meaning coronation. Some quinceañeras include a crown or tiara, but the broader ceremony is not defined by a coronation. Likewise, despedida means farewell and may describe a symbolic farewell to childhood, but it is not the standard name for the whole presentation.
Terminology varies across Spanish-speaking regions. English-language communities may simply call the moment the celebrant’s entrance or formal presentation. The shared idea is a public introduction rather than a single universally prescribed ritual.
