The word is the masculine form related to quinceañera, whose name derives from quince, meaning “fifteen.” In English-language usage, quinceañera is far more widely recognized, and some communities use it broadly for the celebration regardless of the honoree’s gender.
A quinceañero celebration is not governed by one universal script. Families may adapt clothing, music, religious elements, symbolic presentations, and the guest list to local customs.
