The Spanish automobile manufacturer's first model was the Kapi, a light three-wheeled two-door car. It was built in Barcelona by Automóviles y Autoscooter Kapi, a small postwar company associated with Captain Federico Saldaña.
The early Kapi used a 125cc Montesa single-cylinder two-stroke engine, with its single wheel at the front. Its compact design reflected the European microcar boom after World War II, when inexpensive, lightweight vehicles offered basic personal transportation during years of economic hardship.
