The shape-shifting alien race led by Talos is the Skrulls.
The Skrulls are extraterrestrial shapeshifters from the planet Skrullos, introduced in Marvel Comics in Fantastic Four #2 in 1962. Their ability to imitate human appearance makes them natural infiltrators, spies, and political manipulators, though individual Skrulls vary widely in morality and allegiance.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Talos is a Skrull leader portrayed by Ben Mendelsohn. Captain Marvel reveals that Talos and many of his people are refugees fleeing persecution by the Kree, which complicates the usual image of Skrulls as straightforward villains. Talos later appears in Spider-Man: Far From Home and Secret Invasion.
A common mix-up is confusing the Skrulls with the Kree, another major Marvel alien civilization. The Kree-Skrull conflict is one of Marvel’s oldest interstellar rivalries, while Talos himself is a character—not the name of the entire species.
